I was born in Soldotna, Alaska and have traveled and lived in various places ranging from Hawaii to Argentina. I have always been impressed by the beauty and complexity of nature in all the places I’ve lived.  In 2013, after a successful weekend of dip netting for salmon on the Kenai River, my husband decided we would stay in Alaska.  Like a salmon returning to their natal stream, I delivered my first child in the same hospital room that my mother delivered me in.  While embarking on motherhood, I completed a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from UAA in 2018.  Soon after, our family moved to Homer and I quickly fell in love with this town.  Now we have three children and I am passionate about embracing their natural curiosity by providing opportunities to play and explore outside.

At Young Saplings I plan to incorporate a Montessori based approach while I receive certification for Early Childhood (3-6 yr olds) in the Fall of 2020.  I love to promote children’s independence in practical life activities and encourage positive interactions with others.
